We've covered timelapse videos before. But there's a new trend in town, the "hyperlapse." In these videos, the timelapse is kinetic, and the camera typically travels in fast motion, sweeping around, and responding to events in the real world (for instance, a plane flying by, or a car entering a tunnel). The problem with hyperlapse is that it's crazy hard to make -- you have to carefully plan the shoot (even more so than a typical timelapse, since the camera moves more than normal). So where in the world might we find a bunch of 360-degree images, of reasonably high resolution, that are just floating around on the web? Oh yeah -- Google Street View.

The folks over at Teehan+Lax Labs have created an open source tool for developing your own hyperlapse videos using the data from Google Street View. To demonstrate the technique, they created this utterly stunning (and a little dizzy-making) hyperlapse. Seriously, check this out -- this is the new amazing internet video thing:
